about

Using acoustic guitar and layered vocals as the base of her music, Animalia incorporates beats and electronica to bring her music alive, painting a smooth, dark sound-scape to get lost in.

Starting her music career as a bassist and backup singer in her homeland of Tasmania, Animalia performed throughout Australia, Europe and the UK, but it wasn't until the start of 2012, in Toronto, Canada, that she decided to put down the bass and start her own solo career.

In April 2012 Animalia released her self-engineered and self-produced EP, "To the Waking, the Shaking & the Volatile". From the EP, the first track “Unity” is featured on Brandon Cronenberg’s theatrical debut of “Antiviral”, which premiered at Cannes 2012 and TIFF 2012.

During the Toronto International Film Festival, Animalia was invited to sing at a vocal improv performance with Sook-Yin Lee for the opening of "We Are Light Rays" exhibition.

She has also played shows at a variety of well-known venues in Toronto, where she sets the scene for an intimate and compelling performance.

A full length album is set to be released later in 2013. An independent tour throughout Canadian and American cities will commence during the summer.

Track Name: The Trees
Honey I know - you want me inside
But I can't move - my legs are tied

I'm swaying in the breeze

Scared now he calls - he calls my name
And now it's dark - it's starting to rain

I'm swaying in the breeze

Funny to know - as time passes me by
Counting the years like I was counting the days
I fell into the trees

People have come - people have gone
And now he mourns - and then he moves on

I'm swaying in the breeze
all my limbs are full of leaves

Funny to know - as time passes me by
Counting the years - like I was counting the days
I fell into the trees
Track Name: Worth It
Strip all my feelings as I walk into the storm
I get the sense that I'm drowning here
One more step and I'm going under for sure
I need to check that I'm breathing

Can I ask is it worth it?
To let the storm rage on.
Can you say it was worth it?
I let it all fall away

All these walls crumble to the floor
I need to get myself out here
Let me - let me jump off
Let this wind take me

Can I ask is it worth it?
To let the storm rage on
Can you say it was worth it?
I let it all fall away

As you float away
I didn't mean to complicate
Set your sail
Track Name: Swimming
We find ourselves here
We find ourselves under water
Slipping under the waves

Time to make my great escape
Got excited by waves
That were coming to drown us all

I've been dreaming for days
Where three worlds collided
And the rain comes down with crash
Obliterate all sentiment

It's all over once again
Didn't even try to hold my breath
We go swimming with the fish again

Give myself into the green
Only to find that I'm still breathing
Underneath my skin is changing
Separating the oxygen

It's all over once again
Didn't even try to hold my breath
We go sinking down
It's all over once again
Didn't even try to hold my breath
We go swimming with the fish again

We go swimming down.
Track Name: Lovely
A blue sky snow storm came rolling in
I woke up with knives out playing in my head

And I imagined the waves

Waves high like mountains to wash the world away
It's a clear sky now floating building debris

Oh, didn't the birds look lovely
flying away

The birds were singing a perfect song
"they'll be crawling into the ocean when the waves have come and gone"

And I imagined the waves

Oh, didn't the birds look lovely
And now, we sail away with city
And oh, didn't the birds look lovely
Flying away.
